Economist Michael Pento Joins Euro Pacific Capital

July 28, 2010

Recognized hard money advocate named as Senior Economist

(New York) - July 28, 2010.   Michael Pento, an Austrian School economist who has long been a high-profile advocate for free market economic policies, has joined Euro Pacific Capital, a full service brokerage firm headquartered in Westport, Ct. Pento, who will serve as Senior Economist, brings eighteen years of financial industry experience to the firm.

Euro Pacific is most widely known for the macro-economic forecasts and non-dollar investment strategies of its founder, Peter Schiff. Pento will produce publicly available analysis and commentary and will provide wholesaling support for the firm's growing portfolio of mutual funds. He will work out of the Euro Pacific's New York City office.

As a columnist, blogger, and analyst, Mr. Pento has established himself as one of the premier supporters of "Austrian School" economic thought. For years he has been a regular guest on the leading financial television outlets, such as CNBC, Bloomberg, and Fox Business, where he has continually pointed out the dangers of unrealistic Keynesian economic solutions and the shortcomings of mainstream pundits. His market analysis has appeared in most major financial publications, including the Wall Street Journal. He also acts as a Financial Columnist for Forbes and a blogger at the Huffington Post.

"I have watched Michael spar with the most proficient talking heads in the business, and he has always presented the kind of level-headed analysis that our clients and followers expect from Euro Pacific," said Peter Schiff. "With Michael on board, the public will further identify Euro Pacific as an investment firm fueled by no-nonsense economic thinking."

Pento's daily economic and market commentaries, to be called "Pentonomics", will be featured on the Euro Pacific website: www.europac.net. He will also contribute editorial support for Euro Pacific's newsletter, The Global Investor, and will appear on the company's weekly radio show, Wall Street Unspun. In addition, he will represent the firm in major media appearances and investment conferences.

Pento will head up efforts to distribute Euro Pacific's mutual fund products to outside broker-dealers and registered investment advisors. Currently the firm has two such products, the Euro Pacific Halter China Fund (EPHCX) and the Euro Pacific International Value Fund (EPIVX). Additional funds are expected to launch by year's end.

"I'm thrilled to be part of a growing financial organization that shares my philosophical point of view," said Pento. "Given the amount of disinformation being peddled by clueless investment firms, it's great to have an opportunity to stick to my guns while building something for the future."

Prior to joining Euro Pacific, Pento worked for a boutique investment advisory firm that partnered with Claymore Securities Inc. to create ETFs and UITs that were sold throughout Wall Street. During his time there, Pento gained valuable experience educating brokers at large firms about the investment theses of various managed products. Earlier in his career, he worked on the floor of the NYSE. He has carried series 7, 63, 65, 55, and Life and Health Insurance licenses. He graduated from Rowan University in 1991.
